Experience System?

This isn't really a suggestion or proposal, though it may turn into one. I was wondering what the purpose of the Experience System was, and if it has no specific purpose then why have it?

Right now it's just to show basically who's more active, that kind of thing. Not really useful though, I'll admit lol.

Yeah I was kind of looking at it and wondering why on earth we have it. It seems to show up all over the place and is kind of ugly and unneeded in my opinion. However, if you plan to use it for something then I can understand where you're coming from. Sometimes I just wonder why this forum has so much stuff it doesn't need. I guess my "proposal" in this thread would be to revise all of the addons you have and see which ones are most useful and members use the most. The unimportant ones should probably be removed. ;P

I think its kinda cool, its just another form of seeing whos responsible and all that other crap than the post count.

It gives you points for post count... spammers get high points.
It gives you points for reputation... reputation system also shows people's reputation.
It gives points for information on profile page... people can make that whatever they want.
It gives points for how long the account has been made... people can check join date.
It reduces points for infractions... quite often infractions are public on people's profiles.
Etc...

I just think it's not really needed, lol. It shows up everywhere and clutters things up. Making a forum nice, simple, and useful is a good way to attract people.
